My Story
Hi! I'm Kiera, the owner & creator of Deeper Than Profits. As you know by now I own & maintain a virtual bookkeeping business to help entrepreneurs understand the health of their business. But the real story is how I got here. Let me tell you all about it.
I grew up in a very small town in Kansas and later went on to graduate from Kansas State University with a degree in accounting. From there I worked at Koch Industries, a very large private company for nearly 6 years. During my time there I was able to do various different roles, learn a tremendous amount and make great connections.
Throughout that time I got married, settled down in Wichita and started a family. With a new family came the need for extra flexibility. While the bosses I had were very understanding, the structured work week still wasn't working for my family. There were always appointments, illnesses or other things popping up that sometimes made it hard to work a full 40 hours. On top of that my husband travels often for work.
I needed a job that I could do on my own time and in my own home. I needed income to support my family while still being an active parent. But how? With a full-time job and full-time home life I didn't have time to learn a new skill or go back to school.
Bookkeeping was not something that was originally on my radar but one day I was looking for a new podcast to listen to on my commute to work, which was about 30 minutes each direction and I found the Profits & Prosecco Podcast. Every single thing that Katie, the host said was something I related to and suddenly everything clicked into place. I had the solution to my problem.
From that podcast I was able to find a course that showed me how to do bookkeeping without missing anything, how to create a successful online business and gained a support system through Katie and her bookkeeping community. Now I am able to feel confident in my ability to help others with their finances and create wonderful friendships along the way.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I appreciate you and hope we can connect!
